Policies:
Tours:
We do not give coop tours due to regulations for NPIP. We are happy to bring birds out to the viewing area for discussion and viewing of that particular breed.
Hatching eggs:
All hatching egg orders are pre-orders, and are shipped in the order they are purchased. We do our best to get orders out as quaickly as we can, but timing depends on the girls.
We check fertility of our eggs weekly, if our fertility rates do not reach a minimum of 80 percent we will not sell eggs for that breed/pen while we figure out the issue and get our fertility rate back up on our end.
We keep a ratio of 1 rooster to 5 hens or 2 roosters to 12 plus hens per breeding group to keep fertility up.
We advise pickup of hatching eggs as shipping is hard on eggs, while we do ship eggs we can not guarantee your hatch rate as everyone has a different way of incubating. We will send instructions with our eggs for recommended best practices for shipped hatching eggs.
We do not use foam shipping trays, we double box orders. We order shipped hatching eggs ourselves and have found that the foam shippers leave the tops of the eggs vulnerable. We have received multiple orders that have had egg tops cracked during shipping. We want your hatch to be successful and double boxing while more work, has worked well for us. In high temps ice packs can be purchased, there is room around the center box to allow 1, 3 cell cold pack per side. Cold packs are listed separately in the webshop.
Chicks: We ship chicks on a case by case basis, all chicks are mareks vaccinated. All chicks are straight run unless otherwise posted/written/discussed. We do not use medicated feed. Generally we do not sell chicks under 4 weeks of age. We recommend local pickup or using the chicken courier route when possible.
Growouts: Growouts can be shipped, when temperatures allow. Growouts are chicks 4 weeks and older. We grow them out to determine sex and to see what the overall type is of the offspring. We do not accept returns of chicks once they leave our property. You will get to look them over before you leave and we will answer any questions you have. We will give you a care guide for the care of your chicks with what we have been giving them and our best practices advice. We want you to be successful in your chicken rearing experience.
Adult birds: We ship adult birds when weather permits, the temperatures in your area and our area need to align to keep the stress down on the bird as much as possible. We do not refund on dead birds, if you decide to ship that is a risk you take. We recommend local pickup when possible or are willing to meet for a fee. We take time to acclimate the bird to the shipping box prior to shipping, birds get enough feed in the box to last 3 days. The chicken courier route is also an option and we can help put you in touch with the courier. She does a wonderful job!
